Xiaomi’s next-gen foldable phone Mix Fold 2 is coming. It will launch on August 11 after Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. Thanks to leaks, we know what the Mix Fold 2 looks like.
The Mix Fold 2’s ultra-slim design and high-end specs could make it a Galaxy Z Fold 4 rival. Here’s the latest information.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 Design and Specs
Xiaomi designed this hinge. Micro Waterdrop Hinge is its name. It has a smaller bending radius, thinner screen modules, a mini rotating hinge, and a solder-free precision process to create a carbon fibre double-wing floating panel. The 87-part hinge is lighter and thinner than before.
The 8.02-inch foldable display uses Samsung Eco2 OLED with POL-LESS technology. The screen isn’t polarized. It has an ultra-thin colour filter and black matrix to reduce screen reflections. The screen has a UTG layer on top, which should improve durability over plastic films. The OLED panel supports 1Hz to 120Hz dynamic refresh rates, like the Fold 4.
The specs are as good as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in 2022. Xiaomi uses the same Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU, LPDDR5, and UFS 3.1 storage. Back camera has 50-megapixel wide angle, 13-megapixel ultra-wide, and 8-megapixel telephoto. The 6.56-inch 120Hz OLED display houses a 20-megapixel front camera.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 offers features not found on Fold 4. One is fast-charging. 4,500 mAh battery supports 67W. Another system uses vapour chambers.
Price and released date
Xiaomi will launch the Mix Fold 2 on August 16. No global launch is planned. If so, expect lower prices than Fold 4.
Mix Fold 2 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs $8,999 ($1,340). Xiaomi’s most expensive model has 1TB of storage for $1,740. Both prices are cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 ($1,799)
