Xiaomi’s new 12S series phones with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 won’t be sold outside China, but the company is working on the Xiaomi 12T series for the global market. Xiaomi 12T Pro information has surfaced ahead of launch.
Camera
Leaker Chunvn8888 revealed the Xiaomi 12T Pro’s 200 MP camera. Last year, reports said Xiaomi 12 series would have 200 MP cameras. Xiaomi may instead focus on the 12T series, with the 12T Pro expected to have 200 MP. Traditionally, Pro and vanilla models have had similar main cameras, so the regular Xiaomi 12T should have a 200 MP sensor. The cameras are less impressive. The device has an 8MP ultrawide lens and a macro sensor. Not flagship-worthy. Motorola Edge 30 Ultra has 50MP ultrawide and 12MP telephoto cameras. The camera system sounds less impressive.
Specs
WinFuture doesn’t say which sensor it is, but it’s likely Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 from 2021. This sensor is just in the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra that just arrived in Europe, but Xiaomi is reported to be building a phone with it. This could be the latest ISOCELL HP3, albeit it’s unlikely.
The new phone may have 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, depending on the region. 5,000mAh battery with 120W charging is included in the box. The Xiaomi 12T has the same design, display, battery, and fast-charging as the Pro. The chipset and cameras differ. WinFuture reports that the Xiaomi 12T will have a 108MP primary camera and the same sensors as the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, but with a smaller sensor size. The phone will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, according to rumours.
Price and release date
WinFuture expects the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro to launch next week at €649 and €849, respectively. Xiaomi may be undercutting the €899 price of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, but Motorola’s phone sounds like a better deal. We’ll probably learn more soon.
