Being a fan of square smartwatches is challenging, with round designs dominating the market, so we’re always glad to see a new well-equipped square model. The Oppo Watch 2 debuted in July 2017, so its successor may follow suit. Oppo revealed last month that the Watch 3 series would arrive in August, but the date was uncertain. The Oppo Watch 3 series will introduce in China on August 10, the same day as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series.

Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon W5 and W5+ wearable chipsets today; and we already know which smartwatches will use them. Oppo Watch 3 will launch in August with Snapdragon W5. The information comes from Franco Li, Oppo’s IoT Business President. He calls the Watch 3 a series, so we’re anticipating more than one model, but at least one should premiere the W5 platform.
Mobvoi’s next-generation TicWatch smartwatch will come this fall. The nameless TicWatch will be the first smartwatch using Snapdragon W5+. This comes from Mobvoi CEO Zhifei Li.
There are no official specifics regarding these two future product lines; but a former report stated there will be three Oppo Watch 3 versions (how fitting! ); all with a high screen-to-body ratio and square shapes; due in black, silver, dark grey, and “light gold.”
Digital Chat Station also gives a peek at the Oppo Watch 3 and 3 Pro (via GSMArena). We observe a twisted design with a greater screen-to-body ratio than Watch 2 versions. Close inspection reveals that the crystal of Pro model is bend. This smartwatch can monitor ECG and display LTPO. According to DCS; they should come in black, silver, dark grey, and pale gold. eSIM support is possible; but not required (via Playfuldroid).
We’ve heard nothing regarding a global rollout this time. The previous two versions first launched in China and than India, then in Europe and the US months later. Watch 3 may see a similar release, although we hope it hits other regions sooner.
