Valve, a big PC company, has started testing a brand new version of its Steam app in beta.
In a blog post on its website, the company said that the mobile steam app had been updated for a new framework and to make the design more modern. First released in 2015, it allowed users to use Steam Guard’s two-factor authentication.
The updated version offers “smarter” notifications, a better library, and multiple account support.
“The faster you tell us what you think about a product, the better. When we’re near, we ask Steam users for comments “Typed Valve.
“This helps us determine if our ideas are correct, what you like and dislike, and what needs fixing.
This is especially important since the app can be used on so many different phones and devices.”
About the Update
In addition to the makeover, the update will bring a number of improvements to the user experience. Moreover these Updates include:
- A smarter notification system
- A new Steam authenticator
- Support for multiple accounts
- Improved library view
- Improved trade confirmation
- A customized news feed based on your library
- Better store browsing
Valve wants users to download the updated mobile app and give feedback if they want to try it out and see how it’s been improved. Both Android and iOS users can try out the beta version of the Steam mobile app.
If you have an Android phone, just click on this link and the Google Play Store will give you a link to join the beta.
If you have an iOS device, clicking this link will ask you to install the TestFlight app from Apple first. Once it’s installed, the beta will set itself up on its own. Valve says, “According to Apple’s rules, the number of iOS beta testers will be limited to 10,000, and those spots will fill up fast.” Moreover as the beta goes on, we’ll add more slots, so check back if all the slots are taken.”
Even though there are only a few people in the beta, we were able to join right away using a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Furthermore, the UI has been tidied up, notifications are easier to discover, and QR code login makes signing in easier.
