Qualcomm could release two versions of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 offered by tipsters

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 range will reportedly feature just Qualcomm processors. This processor will be presented at Snapdragon Summit 2022 in November 2022. Now, Qualcomm may release two chipsets.

Digital Chat Station says Qualcomm will release two Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 models. First version will be vanilla with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 clock rates (3.19GHz). The other type may have a 3.4-3.5GHz CPU. Supposedly, GPU performance will also increase.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will debut as a normal chipset and a ‘ultra-high frequency variant’

Current-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 runs at 3.19GHz, whereas 8 Gen 2’s ‘ultra-high frequency variant’ could reach 3.4 to 3.5GHz. Higher clock speeds mean speedier and more responsive phones, therefore the updated processor may be used in high-end flagships and the regular chip in lower models.

This version would reportedly have a chip with a very high clock speed and a very high frequency. Digital Chat Station says that one of the chipsets would be a regular one and that the ultra-high frequency chip could run at 3.4 to 3.5GHz. The current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has a speed of 3.19GHz.

Even though all of this sounds exciting, you should not put too much stock in this story. It’s unlikely that this rumour is true. As this rumour says, it wouldn’t make much sense for Qualcomm to release two chipsets at the same time.

The source also talked about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the upcoming Dimensity chip from Mediatek. They say that the next chip from Mediatek could make a big difference in how well CPUs work.
