OnePlus could launch one of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-based phones

OnePlus first Snapdragon 8

About a month ago, OnePlus showed off the OnePlus 10T, which has the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. But it looks like the company won’t end the year with this chipset. Instead, they’ll use the one that’s coming up. Some new reports say that OnePlus plans to release one more high-end flagship phone with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. According to rumours, the OnePlus 11 Pro could have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

We already know that Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit will take place in the middle of November. The Gen 2 series is more likely to come out from the company. So, a lot of companies that make smartphones are also getting ready to release phones with that chipset as soon as possible.

Digital chat station posted on Weibo regarding a new OnePlus gadget (via Android Authority). He says it would use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SM8550 SoC, due in November (the existing Gen 1 chips are the SM8450 and SM8475). By running the latest Snapdragon flagship chip, and knowing OnePlus, this may be a OnePlus 11 series handset – maybe the OnePlus 11 Pro if the forthcoming lineup is anything like the present one (we didn’t get a plain OnePlus 10).

The tipster believes it’s due “around the end of the year,” or a month after Qualcomm’s chip news. That’s fast for a phone with this chipset to be developed, but considering we saw 8+ Gen 1 hints the same day, an announcement may come before retail availability. We don’t know much about this phone, but maybe leaks and rumours will fill in the gaps.

Could OnePlus do a China-exclusive release like it did with the 10 Pro? Expectations are high.
