Nothing Phone 1 Brightness

Nothing was recently in the news after it was discovered that its Phone 1 didn’t fulfil brightness criteria. The business has commented on the Phone 1’s brightness. Android-controlled.

Nothing gave a statement mentioned below,

The hardware is capable of reaching up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, but this is currently capped by the software to 700 nits. This decision was made to ensure a balanced user experience regarding heat and battery consumption. We look forward to hearing from our users about this and will monitor feedback closely to understand if this should be addressed in future software updates.

This decision was made to ensure a balanced user experience regarding heat and battery consumption. We were told that 0-500 nits is the standard range for Phone 1 and 500 nits is possible under normal settings. The high brightness range of 500-700 only works with auto-brightness activated and a bright phone. 700-1200 is for a specific mode that isn’t available owing to software.

While the comment explains why the London-based company limited brightness, it doesn’t explain why it initially used the 1200-nit level in its marketing.

Then things get tricky. Nothing has since told the outlet it’s preparing a software update to boost the panel’s brightness. The panel supports up to 1200 nits of brightness, but the software must support it. Currently, it doesn’t, and the corporation is deciding whether to update it. Power consumption and temperature will rise.

It’s unclear how Nothing will survey customers about display brightness. Check the hands-on review here.
