Google is planning the Pixel 7 after a year with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Google teased the Pixel 7 series at I/O in May, and anticipation has grown since. The Pixel 7 is Google’s answer to the iPhone 14.
Details regarding the phone have filtered out over the previous few months, giving us a glance at what to expect. As with all leaks and pre-release info, be sceptical.
Google’s Pixel 7 follows the success of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 7 is likely to continue the Pixel 6’s success as the greatest Android value ever after a major redesign and marketing push by Google.
Google surprised us by revealing the Pixel 7 and confirming a few facts during its Google I/O 2022 keynote. The Pixel 6a is now available, but the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro may not be far after.
What a phone it’ll be. Google announced a second-generation Tensor chip, but the Pixel 7 may have an under-screen camera. Here’s what we know so far about the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro’s price, release date, design, and more.
Release date
Google announced the Pixel 7 will launch this fall, although the exact date is unknown. Given Google’s annual phone releases and the number of rumours leading up to the Pixel 6 announcement, all signs point to a 2018 launch.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro launch date has leaked. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will ship on October 13, with pre-orders starting on October 6. Prosser says we may expect an event on October 6 based on “reliable sources.”
Display expert Ross Young says panel shipments would begin one month earlier than last year, implying they could arrive sooner or Google plans to sell more. Google confirmed that the Pixel 6 has outsold the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 combined.
Third model: 9to5 Google found Pixel-related code. Labeled as G10, it will apparently have a completely different display than the upcoming Pixel 7 (P10) and Pixel 7 Pro (C10). It should have a Tensor chip, 120Hz refresh rate, 1440 x 3120 resolution, and dimensions like the Pixel 6 Pro. All clues point to a high-end Pixel phone, but information are scarce.
Price
The Pixel 7’s price and release date are unknown. Google raising the price of their affordable flagship phones would be odd. Pixel’s mid-range costs are one of its best characteristics.
After the $499 Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G, the $699 Pixel 5, and the $599 Pixel 6, Google nailed the mark for mid-tier smartphones with flagship capabilities. CEO Sundar Pichai said Google had “Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 offer excellent value. We’ll expand.”
Considering the Pixel 7’s limited differences from the Pixel 6, it’s likely the Pixel 7 will cost $599 and the Pixel 7 Pro $899. The second-generation Tensor processor will be a significant advance, but this shouldn’t affect the price of the new phones, as Apple rarely alters its prices with each new iPhone with its strong bionic chip.
Camera
According to leaks, Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will have the same rear camera configuration and specs as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Pixel 6 will include a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera, while Pixel 7 Pro will have a 48MP telephoto lens.
Google’s Pixel 3, 4, and 5 all have the same camera. Both phones have good hardware and cameras. Google may be trying to make the most of its camera hardware before upgrading.
A recent leak suggests the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro’s front-facing cameras will shoot 4K video. The report uses the Google Camera app on Pixel phones. Pixel 6 Pro’s selfie camera supports 4K video, but Pixel 6 doesn’t. The Pixel 6 Pro had an 11MP selfie camera while the Pixel 6 had an 8MP one, thus we can presume the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will both have 11MP sensors.
What’s more?
After Google I/O 2022, we know what Google’s newest smartphone will bring: more of the same. The Pixel 7 exhibits small modifications from its predecessor, but there’s still more to discover about its internals.
Other Google Pixel-branded goods due this year are the Pixel Notepad and Pixel Watch. The Pixel 6a is the company’s latest smartphone, and it’s currently available.
This year’s Pixel 7 will include the Pixel Watch. Google hasn’t announced pricing or availability. Google’s foldable Pixel Notepad remains a mystery. Some think it could emerge in 2022, although it could potentially be 2023 (or later).
