The Pixel Watch will launch with the Pixel 7 series in October. It’ll run Wear OS 3, making it Google’s greatest smartwatch yet.
It’ll compete with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, the expensive Montblanc Summit 3, and the Apple Watch 8, plus Pixel fans who’ve waited years for an in-house smartwatch. Here’s what we know about the Google Pixel Watch, including its debut date, pricing, and features.
Google Pixel Watch: Design
Numerous reports and leaks have shown what the watch would look like, including a non-functional item “abandoned” at a U.S. bar. Google I/O 22’s design resembles this forgotten machine. The official renders with the screen on offer us a better picture of how the wearable will work.
The Pixel Watch has a sleek, almost floating look similar to the Apple Watch. Google calls it “domed,” with recycled stainless steel on the bottom. Right-side “tactile” crown helps traverse UI and large lists.
Although the hardware is a half-inch thick and 1.5 inches in diameter, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Moreover display bezels look huge, but this may not be so evident when using a dark clock face, as Google does in its press previews.
Google’s smartwatch has unique wristbands that are easy to attach and replace, but it has a proprietary hinge. Moreover Standard watch bands aren’t available. Furthermore all of Google’s exhibited bands are constructed of high-quality rubber, giving the watch a sporty appeal.
Compal will manufacture Google’s watch, so quality should be good. Although the same business makes the Apple Watch, so it’s experienced with wearables.
Colors and bands
Google showed three stainless steel colours for the Pixel Watch.
- Polished silver
- Nonreflective, matte black
- Dark gold
In June, it was revealed that Google was working on a large selection of watch bands, however not all might launch or be created by the company:
- Silicone band: Google’s silicone band is similar to Fitbit’s Infinity Bands.
- Fabric band
- Stretch band
- Link bracelet: Metal
- Style, lighter/darker hues differentiate two leather straps.
- Milanese-style mesh bracelet made of stainless steel in body colours.
Features and specs
9to5Google in May reported that the Pixel Watch is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9110. However It has a co-processor and 1.5GB of RAM, which should beat Wear OS. With 32GB of storage, customers can keep many songs offline.
This chip is from 2018’s Tizen-powered Galaxy Watch, but it should offload different functions. Unknown how Google will brand this SoC and if Tensor will be used.
In addition the Pixel Watch’s 300mAh battery should last a day. Furthermore Magnetic puck with USB-C handles charging.
Google’s Pixel Watch will have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE. Built-in GPS and 50-meter water resistance are also features.
Google Pixel Watch Price and Launch Date
Google’s Pixel Watch will come this autumn alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Stainless steel may raise the price, which hasn’t been revealed.
Aluminum Galaxy Watch 4 (Bluetooth + Wi-Fi) costs $249.99, while stainless steel Classic costs $309.99. Moreover Apple Watch Series 7 costs $399 for aluminum and $699 for steel (with cellular).
