Battery Percentage in iOS 16 will not appear on these iPhone

iOS 16

The new battery percentage display in iOS 16’s status bar doesn’t work for some iPhone owners.

MacRumors says this isn’t a bug. Apple updated a support document to confirm that the battery percentage won’t be displayed in the status bar on some older iPhone models. iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini only display battery level visually.

No show on these phones

Apple just revealed that the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini won’t support iOS 16’s Battery Percentage feature. This means these devices will continue to show the battery percentage in the Control Center, as they did before.

iPhone SE, iPhone 8 or earlier, and iPads showed battery percentage from the start.

The iPhone XS series, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 14 series will now show the battery % on the home screen.

To enable this, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Percentage. The white battery icon will show the battery percentage and stay filled till 20%.

How to enable battery percentage in iOs 16: Supported devices

Not all iPhones running iOS 16 have the battery percentage icon. Apple’s support site says the iPhone XR, 11, 12, and 13 mini won’t display it. Unfortunately, the tech behemoth gives no reason for this. These iPhones don’t have the toggle in Battery options.

iPhone 8, iPhone SE 2 (2020), and iPhone SE 3 running iOS 16 include the old battery percentage feature (2022).

Alternatives for non-supported phones

iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini running iOS 16 can show battery % on lock and home screens. So, you can quickly check the exact reading.
