When Apple launched the Apple Watch Ultra instead of the Apple Watch Pro, one writer wondered if it was hinting at a shift to the iPhone lineup. I assumed Apple might introduce a more expensive iPhone 15 Ultra with better specs than the 15 Pro Max next year.
LeaksApplePro tweeted a bunch of iPhone predictions. All four iPhone 15 versions will have USB-C, which isn’t surprising given that USB-C will become mandatory in the EU. Dynamic Island will be on all four devices.
LeaksApplePro says Apple will keep two-tier chipsets despite device unification. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus would get this year’s A16 chip, while the Pro and Max would get the A17 chip.

The insider says Apple intends to extend the Ultra’s battery life by 3-4 hours. The Ultra’s price could increase by $100, from $1,100 to $1,200.
As with any rumour, this is simply supposition. Apple’s next iPhone hopefully won’t be as iterative as the iPhone 14 was.
iPhone 15 Ultra could replace iPhone 15 Pro Max
I was startled, amused, and perhaps angry after reading a tweet from Twitter tipster LeaksApplePro about the new naming strategy for the 2023 iPhone models (unlike me as my forecast was based on a gut feeling and years of experience writing about the mobile market).
The insider says Apple will release the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra next year. He expects it to be more distinguished than Pro Max models and cost $1,199. The iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099. Apple is working on 8K video recording, although it’s unclear if it will be for the two Pro versions or just the Ultra.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a TF International analyst who knows which shirt Tim Cook will wear next Thursday, says only the Ultra model will have a 5x to 6x zoom periscope lens. The Ultra has 3-4 hours more battery life.
