Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 is here, reigniting Google’s dormant beta programme and daring us to unearth hidden OS secrets. Today’s launch gives beta testers a new glimpse at an impending Pixel smartphone. Google I/mysterious O’s Pixel tablet now has some details.

Since Google took the stage in May, we’ve been waiting for rumours and leaks, and today’s the day. Android 13 QPR1 features an animation depicting the Pixel tablet in operation, according to developer Kuba Wojciechowski and Twitter user Mishaal Rahman. Before Google’s I/O tablet announcement, rumours circulated regarding a dockable smart hub tablet. The Pixel tablet’s bezels seem similar to the Nest Hub’s, so we’ve long suspected they were the same.

Two animations show a tablet and dock. The first shows a slate on a charging stand. Animation doesn’t show if this dock has a Nest Hub-like speaker. The second animation shows Assistant activating while the tablet’s display is off.
Esper’s Mishaal Rahman found a docking page in the release. It includes the animation stated above and emphasizes that users can summon Google Assistant even when the tablet’s screen is locked.

Users can play music or cast movies from the tablet’s lock screen and display personal photographs, artwork, and clock faces.
