Amazon announced that the Kindle 2022 will have a new look, a sharper screen, and charging through USB-C. The newest, least expensive Kindle has a lot of the same features as the more expensive Paperwhite model, like a 6-inch, 300ppi, front-lit E-ink screen. The new Kindle is 157.8 x 108.6 x 8.0 mm and weighs 158 grammes. It is a little smaller than the Paperwhite model.
Amazon is doubling the built-in storage from 8GB to 16GB. With 30 minutes of reading per day and wireless connectivity turned off, the battery should last for up to 6 weeks. The new entry-level Kindle charges through USB-C, which is a big improvement over the old one. Amazon also says that the latest Kindle is made of 30–75% recycled plastics and 90% recycled magnesium.
Why buy a Paperwhite now? The Paperwhite boasts a bigger display and IPX8 rating above the normal Kindle. Paperwhite has less storage than the standard Kindle. This doesn’t justify the Paperwhite’s higher pricing.
New Kindle costs $99.99, up $10. That’s the ad-supported version. Black or Denim. You can pre-order it today. You’ll get a four-month Kindle Unlimited membership.
